Wisdom Tooth Extraction 1/2 🔧

 Before I came to Pune, I went to my dentist for a routine cleaning. I was also experiencing a little tooth ache especially when I ate anything sweet. He took an X-ray and told me that my wisdom tooth is coming at an angle which is leaning on the tooth before it and causing cavities on that. The only solution for that is removal of the wisdom tooth before it damages the one before it.
I did not follow up with him on time and had to come to Pune.

The problem started to increase very gradually. I started to have discomfort in eating hard things like chips etc from my tight side so I started using my left side. With the new routine, my habit of flossing reduced. On 2nd January I ate a chocolate from my left side and experienced pain that side too. 

That was the point I knew that I am running of sides to chew my food from and its time to pay the dentitst a visit. I did.

She told me the same thing. Removal of wisdom tooth from both sides and I did not delayed it any further and booked a slot for 6th Jan.

Now, I am not a guy who fears needles/injections in general but an injection in gums?! Even though it is anaesthesia but still. That is something I was afraid of. I though that was the hard. Once the anaesthesia takes, effect, I would not feel anything after that.

But, I was wrong.

When the procedure started, the process involved cutting and slicing (whatever the clinical term for that is) the gums. It was painful but bearable. Then came the part where the tooth was to be pulled out.

THAT WAS A FUCKING PAINFUL.

You cannot even scream properly because your mouth is wide open and there are people holding your head so there is no other option but to soldier through it. The sheer amount of force, required to pull it out is surprising. I was pretty relieved once she told me that this step was done all that was left was stitches. She asked when If I wanted to see the "extraction site" but I did not. What;s the point of seeing it.

I was not able to focus for at least 45 minutes after I got out of the chair. They gave me Tang (for sugar rush I think) and an ice pack. I felt a little better and finally came to home.

One day before, I played poker online (with virtual money of course). I started with 10K chips. At one point I was only left with 2K chips but I was managed to comeback to 8K and that's when I ended the game. My starting amount was 10K and ending amount was 8K. Pretty decent for a 2 hour game I think.

When I got home, there was still pain so I decided to play some poker to distract myself. I lost 4K twice. That's 8K down in just 45 minutes. I did not realise it but that's how much I was exhausted and not able to focus.

Luckily, I did not have any problem in sleeping. It' been almost 48 hours and here I am sitting and writing this post. I don't have pain but a LOT of discomfort. My stitches will be removed on 13th Jan. Till then only soft and liquid food.

The worst part is when all of this over for the right side, exact same procedure will be repeated for the left side. However now there is no element of surprise. I will be prepared because I know what is coming.

I though that this time, the amount of anaesthesia was a little less. I will ask them to give a little more next time, if possible of course. Also before starting the procedure this time, they asked me If I want some song to be played in the background. It of course, helps in distraction. I chose the silence this time but will choose a song next time just to see what difference does it make.

As the title indicates, there will be a post regarding that.

That's enough but teeth.

In my last post I mentioned, that I was started to use my laptop as a server. Even though it worked exactly how I wanted it to, it was becoming hot and I also mentioned that I was hanging. Given that my laptop is 5 years old, I realised that I should not do that on it. If something happens to it, I will have to spend money on the repairs or worst, get a new one. So I took down all the docker containers and cloudflare tunnel. It provided me the proof of concept that I needed.

So for now I am back to my raspberry pi. My major reason for using my laptop was that it was more powerful than the pi and was able to handle jellyfin streaming smoothly. This was a little incorrect because, when I initially tested streaming on my pi, my internet connection was only 60mbps which resulted in buffering. Now I have upgraded my internet connection to 100mbps (because my company pays for it 😉) and that buffering is gone. I can use the pi itself the way I want.

No custom css for now. The previous one looked good but it affected functionality when accessing via phone. Yesterday I had a little scary experience when the pi was not booting up because I made a change in the fstab file. Luckily I was able to fix it and it was back to normal. Today I backed up the HDD that is attached to it and will also research on making backups of the server now before I make any kind of major change.

Also my 200gb oracle instance is no longer accessible because my trial period expired. Luckily only my self hosted search engine is gone. I will set it up on my pi this time.

Time to end the post for now. I will write part 2 of the tooth extraction activity and also If anything major comes. I have some plans for the next weekend that IF happens successfully, will write about them. Let's see.
