15th National Numismatic Exhibition

Image
Numismatics – The study or collection of currency, including coins, tokens, paper money, medals and related objects. As a child, when I was asked “ What do you want to become when you grow up ?”, the answer always varied depending on my age, mood, and what movie I watched the day before. Now, in hindsight, there seems to be only one answer that comes to mind that I should have given whenever I was asked this question. Interesting. Yep, one word is enough and self-explanatory. As evident from my description on this blog and a previous post , I like collecting things. Of all things I collect, the biggest collection that I have, is of coins . Mostly Indian Commemorative coins and few of other countries as well. I have yet to document and count all of them, as some of them are in Indore, some are here with me, but roughly, I must have at least 250+ coins. Some are rare. I don't know hobbies can be genetic or not, but it sure seems like it. My grandfather also collected coins. Recently ...

" Even though I talked about TR remasters for almost 10 minutes, that still not enough. I will probably write a post dedicated to just the remasters and the new things they introduced like...

A Nostalgia Remastered (Long Post)

Image
The year was 2003. Just like today, for only 10Rs you could buy a packet of Uncle Chipps (yes, that's how it is spelled on the pack) or Cheetos. But unlike today, the packet consisted of one special item. A Pokémon Tazo/Jenga Card, which was the primary reason kids used to buy it. A Tazo was a circular plastic disk with an image and stats of a Pokémon. Posted by u/_buttery_ in r/IndiaNostalgia  A Jenga Card was a rectangular plastic card with image and stats of a Pokémon and other mini-games. Posted by u/Proud-Organization28 in r/IndiaNostalgia These were not just simple toys. These were collectible items which had kids in mad craze back then. These came as freebies, but 20 years later, these are priceless now. People have these things in their original packaging and only a few of them are willing to sell their collection, that too, at a very high price. As a kid growing up in the same era, I was also crazy about them, and there was a time I had quite a collection. My collection no...

An End To a 48 Year Old Journey

The house that one grows up in is always special. No matter how far an individual goes, that home holds a special place in one's heart. If there is a situation where the said individual leaves the home permanently, there is a weird feeling. It can also be sad in many cases, but it sure is odd in every one of them. I was born in Indore and have lived 92% of my life there and that too in the same house with a joint family. Only after I got a job in 2021, I moved to Pune in 2022 (after COVID-19 lockdown ended). Pune also was temporary as evident from the fact that I am currently in Bengaluru. Even if I was not living in Indore, I would visit my house on festivals and special occasions. While I would still continue doing that no matter where I am in coming years, I won't be visiting the same house anymore. My family has sold the old house and bought and moved into a new one. A bigger and most importantly, a better one. It still is a joint family if you are wondering. In my opinion...

A For Anxiety

Image
I have kept this post pretty short and gone through all the stuff very quickly. In reality, 1 entire month was very long. I was excited for this Diwali because I was coming to Indore for this but as mentioned in the title, towards the end, the excitement turned into severe anxiety. Why? You may ask. To answer that, I'll have to quickly take you in October. On 9th October my father had to leave for Indore as we have some very important stuff going on here. I will not mention it in this post, instead, I will write a separate post about that covering all aspects in detail. It was pre-decided that he would be leaving around that time frame. Me and my mother were the only ones in Bengaluru. The anxiety began the day he left. I always make fun of people who use the term " alone " in the context of more than 1 person because technically, if two people are together, none of them is alone. I will stop making that joke now. I think multiple people can be alone. It depends on the si...

I Love Playing Cards

Image
When it comes to playing with cards, I don't know a lot of games, except for Poker. I have played other games here and there, but I always forget the rules and someone has to remind me before starting the game. However, this is not the case with poker. Poker is my favorite mind sport. There is something about a deck of cards that really appeals to me. I don't know exactly what it is. Maybe it's something related to order and control. The fact that with proper skill, one can have complete control on the cards is fascinating. There are also some interesting factoids about playing cards: 52 cards in a deck represent 52 weeks in a year. 4 suits represents 4 seasons 2 colors represents night and day any many more... My love for playing cards is not something that is developed recently. It goes back to my childhood when I used to see my grandfather playing with his set of cards. Yes, he used to play alone. I still have the deck of cards he used to play with. I have saved it, but ...
